Louis Vuitton Named Most Powerful Luxury Brand

Well, duh! Lol. It isn't surprising Louis Vuitton was named the most powerful luxury brand. Mostly because of their ability to feauture themselves in an array of markets. The list was complied by Millward Brown Optimor and its director Pierre Dupreelle stated Louis was named number one because of its heritage as a travel brand. Jet-setters unite.

Louis was up 2% this past year with a revenue of nearly $20 Billion dollars, billion with a 'B'. Sheesh. The top 10 companies that made the list were:

1. Louis Vuitton
2. Hermès
3. Gucci
4. Chanel
5. Hennessy
6. Rolex
7. Moët & Chandon
8. Cartier
9. Fendi
10. Tiffany & Co.

Louis Vuitton At Paris Fashion Week

Louis Vuitton showed yesterday at Paris Fashion Week and the looks seemed to have a similar silhouette as the fall 2010 Marc Jacobs show (coincidence? I don't think so). I guess Marc is just feeling long dresses and pushed up boobs this season. I loved the bags and other accessories in the show as well. He does fashion so well.

Introducing Louis Vuitton's $2000 Trash Bag

Dead serious. Louis Vuitton has designed a "trash bag" with leather handles that retails for $1,960 each. Louis, you are my favorite classic handbag line, and (for the most part) I usually love your aesthetic. But really? I can't...

Paris - Men's Fall Fashion Week 2010

Men's Fashion Week is now in Paris, showing all of the sexy menswear. Some of my favorites so far are Louis Vuitton, which is always classic, and Jean Paul Gaultier, who used a "boxing" theme. Ironically, Chris Brown was at the Jean Paul Gaultier show. Things that make you go hmmmm..

Making Of Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 Ad Campaign

Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs had Lara Stone as their feature woman for the spring/summer 2010 ad campaign for the brand. This is just a behind the scenes video of it's inspiration and thought process.

Costco Sells Louis?

A brand new Costco just opened up on East 116th Street in New York, the first one in Manhattan, and they are already showing out. Obviously, Costco carries the usual jumbo sized everything, but this Costco in particular carries designer bags, and for a discount. According to Stylelist, “the new location currently has Chanel Classic Flap handbags available for $1,999, though the salesperson, a man, was not sure what sizes were available (baby, small, medium, large or jumbo). These regularly sell anywhere from $1,795 to $2,495." Also, “they sold out of Louis Vuitton Speedy bags, regularly priced from $665 to more than $3,000, all three going for $589 a pop.” They also have Coach, Burberry's mini satchel for $1,019.99, Tod's medium shopper handbag for $549.99 and a Ferragamo "Marissa" handbag for $629.99. Costco’s kickin ass.

Louis Vuitton Customers Are Crazy

If you didn’t know, Louis Vuitton has been doing amazingly well in this recession, kicking its competitor’s ass. But is there a reason they are doing so well? Marc Jacobs, creative director of Louis Vuitton, believes so:

“Obviously there are a lot of people suffering out there, but our sales are up and I haven’t noticed that people’s tastes have got more subdued. They may be buying less, but if anything, they want it to be even more special. There’s this huge cult following of almost crazy people at Vuitton who just want whatever they buy to be exclusive.”
LOL, MJ is funny. But I do kind of agree. Once you get a Louis, it does become your BFF and you officially join the cult of oxidized leather and speedy’s you’ll see everyone else carrying.

The Man Bag

You know what menswear trend I’m loving? The man bag; or more politically correct, the weekend bag. It makes guys look important and make me wonder, “hmmm what’s he got in that bag?” Fellas, of course don’t throw over your shoulder and wear it like a purse, just kind of masculinely hold it. And many designers are making really nice ones where you can carry laptops, work, or whatever it is you’d carry in your man purse. Invest now my friends.

Menswear Trend Report

Personally, I dig menswear way more than I like women’s-wear. Lately, I think guys have been kicking the ladies asses in terms of style, and I love seeing the new trends that designers come out with for our men. In terms of this spring, I’m excited for all the trends that walked down the runway and how males are going to translate them to the streets. Here are some of the trends that stood out to me the most during fashion week:

Mixed Prints

GQ.com - Marc by Marc Jacobs & Dries Van Noten

Neckwear

GQ.com - Hermès & Bottega Veneta

Weekend Bags

GQ.com - D&G & Louis Vuitton

Shorts

GQ.com - Michael Bastian & Emporio Armani

Jackets

GQ.com - Ralph Lauren & Michael Bastian
