J.Lo's Ass Busting & Song About Louboutin

Remember at the American Music Awards when J.Lo fell on her ass? Yeah that was funny but if you were really paying attention to her performance and not the hilariousness of her busting her ass on national TV, after not being seen since she went with Diddy, you would know she was singing about Christian Louboutins. Which you may or may not know, are my absolute favorite shoes. And guess what? Mr. Louboutin himself loves the song too! He said, "I know the song by heart now,” adding “because the brilliant part of the single is that it's not about me. It's about a girl and her shoe. When something is so in mass culture and you have almost nothing to do with it, it's kind of cool. It's weird but not disagreeable." How many times does she say his name? "That would be 45. Trust me, I've counted!" I like him.

PSA: Louboutins Are Not Made For Comfort

Although most of us see Christian Louboutin’s shoes as fabulous, almost perfect, works of art, he admittedly states, they are not made for comfort. The Washington Post’s Robin Givhan was able to talk to Mr. Louboutin himself recently when he made an appearance at Tysons Galleria in Virginia (which I’m highly mad I missed). Louboutin stated, "I would hate for someone to look at my shoe and say, 'Oh my God! That looks so comfortable!' That's not what I want to project. But I'm not a sadist," he says. "I don't believe suffering makes you beautiful. But comfort is not part of my creative process." And so he is right. They definitely aren’t the most comfortable shoes, but damn you look good wearing them. Plus, me being a shortie, I can tower over everyone in his five inch heels and feel important. Louboutin says he understands he is not a technician and does not try to project so. And although his shoes are not as comfortable as his rival Manolo Blahnik, his creativity – in my opinion – is far more superb. Technician or no technician, and as long as I don’t topple over and die, Louby’s are alright with me.

In 1880s France, it was a popular ritual for men to drink champagne out of a woman’s shoe. With all the gross diseases going around today, I don’t know about that; but Louboutin is trying to revive that tradition in a different way. Christian Louboutin and Piper Heidsieck have partnered up to make a “champagne shoe.” The champagne by Piper Heidsieck comes in a box set with a champagne glass made into a shoe designed by Louboutin. The set went on sale October 26 exclusively at Colette for about $519. But sadly, it’s only shipped in France. The rest of us will just have to enjoy our champagne in regular, boring, not-red-bottom, glasses. Boooooooo.
